The numbers of the so-called gifted have risen exponentially in recent years. Teenagers around the world are discovering that they have super-human abilities. These abilities make them “a threat to society", or at least, that is what the governments of the world believe. Due to this rampant increase of gifted teenagers, the governments created the Ashford program, which relocates "dangerous" and "volatile" teenagers to Ashford Academy, where they are trained and their skills are honed until they have control over their powers. The academy was built specifically for the purpose of housing the gifted teens. While it may look like a normal boarding school from the outside (albeit an isolated one), there are dark forces lurking within the stone walls.
Behind the fair facade of stone and mortar, there is a war brewing between the prefects and the Battle Front. The prefects are supposed to protect the student body, and many have this goal in mind; however, some prefer to abuse their authority, handing down harsh punishments for simple violations of the school rules or to simply keep the other students in line. The Battle Front was created to simultaneously combat the abusive prefects and fight for the freedom of all gifted people, no matter what the cost. However, do not be fooled by the supposed “heroics” of these freedom-fighters, for they also have some within their ranks who will use any means necessary to get off the island or oppose the prefects, even if people are caught in the middle of the violence. There are also those who decide to not take a side and simply exist at the school, but their numbers are rather small and they seem to find themselves entangled in the conflict somehow, whether it be through friends, family, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The faculty of the school overlooks the violence and continue to teach as if nothing is wrong, despite the fact that the students are fighting for their lives. It is rumored that, even if the students survive Ashford, they still have the potential to be auctioned off as weapons of mass destruction.
