What ARE the Originals exactly? The Originals are breeds that are unique to Fragmentation v1. The six breeds are produced by the Afterlife so they are equines but they have some supernatural/fantasy elements to them that make them well, original. The Originals are created in 'foundation pairs' by the Afterlife only. Once the foundation pairs are taken and established, then any offspring of the pair can be taken by anyone. At this point in time, the Originals cannot be created in the character application board but there is a way that if you want one, you CAN get one!
How do I get an Original foundation or a full blooded Original's offspring? There is a half auditioning/half bidding system that takes place in order for someone to get an Original or a full blooded Original's offspring. If you want one from the foundation pair, you must audition with a minimum of 300 word post as if you already had the character, how they would behave, how they would use their power if at all, etc. Essentially, you are 'adopting' the character's stats as it is produced from the Afterlife. You have the freedom to create it's personality around whatever the Afterlife has given him or her. If only one person auditions for one character, that does not always mean they will get it as it is up to the current Afterlife leaders to discuss the votes and results.
If you want a full blooded Original's offspring, meaning that the foal is pure Original x Original, then you must bid into the Afterlife in order to receive a foal from that pair. There is not a specific event or thread where you must bid in but you must PM or otherwise notify an afterlife leader (preferably IC but may be OOC) that you want a foal from a particular pair. In order to bid into the Afterlife, you have to come up with a reasonable bid that may include selling one character's soul, or that you will create an afterlife character by x date, or that one of your herds will be Afterlife supporters, or insert whatever creative idea you may have here, in order to be in the considerations for the next foal from that pair born.
Essentially, it is a trade with the Afterlife for a foal. If you bid in at all, you will eventually get a foal. The highest risk bids will be honored first and the lesser risk bids will be honored last. Meaning that if I bid into the Afterlife promising that I will devote two herds, three characters into selling their souls, and creating two afterlife characters in the next three weeks, and only one other person bids and their bid is that they will sell one character's soul to the Afterlife, my bid will be honored before theirs and I will get a foal first.
In order to keep people from choosing other bids over another first and to eliminate bias, a master list of all bids for each foundation pairs' foals will be kept in the Birthing board. The bidder's name and their entire bid will be listed and they will be given a number as their ranking order. Only admins and the co-admin can change the ranking order if it seems to be unfair or controversial. Once a foal is given, the bidder's information will be crossed off the list.
If for whatever reason a bidder does not fulfill their bid in the amount of time they gave themselves, the foal can be taken back by the Afterlife and held until they either fulfill it in 2 weeks time after the foal is taken back or it will be given to someone else that is waiting. There must be IC proof of information given in the bid in order to be sure that your foal is safe!
Breeding Rules for Originals An Original x Original (such as a foundation pair) will produce a foal that will have to go to the Afterlife to be able to choose one power trait from one parent or they can choose not to go to the Afterlife and they will be a slightly weaker hybrid of the two Original parents.
An Original x non-Original will produce a foal with a 50% chance that it may receive the power from the Original parent. There is a 25% chance that the power will react with the powerless blood and create a hybrid or a new Original breed. There is a 25% chance that the foal will not receive any sort of power at all nor be a hybrid of the two and will otherwise just be a normal foal like its non-Original parent.
Otherwise, the same breeding rules apply to Originals.
Available Original Breeds
SOZUR -- Sozur horses are more of the average body type. They are no more athletic than a well conditioned horse. The Sozur breed averages around 15-16.3hh and come only in paint/appaloosa patterns. Sozur' eye colors can only be purple, green, or brown. Their coats shed out and grow to the length of the average wild horse in the appropriate season. They are very obvious to see when they are visible. Their power is that they can become invisible for short periods of time. The only thing visible is a hazy rippling silhouette (which would be visible in daylight but not particularly at night). To ensure entire invisibility, they must eat a variant of the hemlock plant species that is found only in Fragmentation. If they eat enough of this plant, they can be completely invisible for a short time but the plant has the chance to make them ill as well. They can remain invisible for about an hour but they have a higher chance of becoming ill if they eat enough of the plant to make them invisible for that amount of time. If they use their power too much, full invisibility is not guaranteed with the more times they use it. Sometimes only parts of their body will become invisible or very little of their body. If they can no longer become invisible, they will have to find more of the plants after the plants cycle out of their system.
RAJIER -- The Rajier are of varying degrees of being 'heavy' horses. They are not the largest original breed but they generally carry some draft appearances (feathers, thicker legs, thick necks, some may have roman type faces, slightly taller than the average horse, etc). Their manes and tails are thick but short as if their manes had been buzzed with a razor. Not down to the skin on their neck but their manes will never be longer than 3-4 inches and will never lay over their neck. Rajier can only have blue, orange, or red eyes. They can come in any color except they cannot have paint/appaloosa patterns. Their height ranges from 16.2hh-17.3hh and their coats are generally thicker all year round. Rajier are healers. They can heal any wound, illness, disease, etc, however the greater the illness/wound they are healing, the more life force it will draw from the healer. A single small cut would barely affect them but a disease or a potentially fatal injury could leave them moments from death themselves. If they are healing a terminal illness, then the after effects are long term (1-2 weeks) but as long as they do not over-exert themselves like in battle or in childbirth, and rest and eat well in a low stress environment, they should recover completely. If they heal multiple injuries/illnesses in the same day, they will become incredibly weak and unable to care and fend for themselves for awhile. Healers usually band together for this reason as healers can 'piggy back' off each others' power.
