The afterlife has an extensive involvement with the mortal realm (any non-afterlife board) and the afterlife can offer many services to mortal characters. The afterlife rulers (both rulers of Zion and Hades) take care of the Blessing/Curse board (static and non-static), can steal souls, can fight mortal vs. immortal battles for steals and any non-land challenges/battles, can fight immortal vs. immortal, can offer their blessing on a battle and birth, and can tax lands for pledges.
BLESSING/CURSE BOARD
For the Blessing/Curse board, the four leaders (Sovereign Lord and Lady of Zion and the Sovereign Lord and Lady of Hades) take care of this board. No other being in the afterlife can answer static blessing or curse requests. The blessings and curses are randomly generated for the request. It is up to the requester if the characters involved will choose to blame or praise the afterlife for what happened or if they associate the event at all with the afterlife. This opens up the door for more plots.
For non-static blessings and curses, the four leaders and the next in line are allowed to generate one non-requested blessing or curse for a randomly chosen land or character for that realm. So for example, whoever rules Hades as the leading pair and their Grand War Master or Grand War Mistress can create a blessing or curse for a randomly chosen character or land. Whenever a non-static blessing or curse is given out by Hades, it must be marked down in the Blessing/Curse board as well as who sent it out, to what land or character, and the date. That one non-static blessing or curse is all that is allotted for Hades for two months past the official date. So no one in Hades can create another non-static blessing or curse until the two months is up. Whatever land or character is associated with the non-static event is then given a three month rest period from the non-static event.
SOUL STEALING
The afterlife can steal souls of mortal characters. This ability extends to all residents of the afterlife EXCEPT those in Purgatory. Those in Purgatory cannot steal, cannot be stolen, and cannot block anyone in Purgatory, Hades, or Zion. They are the only characters exempt from stealing since it is not a requested eternal destination like Zion or Hades. The same rules for stealing apply to the afterlife except they cannot steal physical bodies. It must be their soul. The character's statistics must be posted at the top of the steal along with the fact that it is a soul steal.
BATTLES
The afterlife can partake in any non-land affiliated battle. The ruler of Hades cannot fight a battle for someone who is being challenged for their land but can fight for someone who is being stolen or is seeking release from slavery. There are many other options that this would apply to so use your imagination! If a battle arises for an immortal character and it is against a mortal character, all immortals will resume a mortal body upon stepping foot of the battle grounds against their earthly opponent. Any supernatural or unearthly appendages like horns, antlers, or wings will be temporarily removed. All powers such as controlling the elements, telepathy, etc, will be removed. It will be like a mortal vs. mortal fight. This keeps it fair.
If the Sovereign Lords of Zion and Hades were to go into battle against each other, their powers will remain intact. The battle terms for these fights are a bit more complex than they are for a regular battle. Instead of the typical 3 hits and 2 dodges, there is a small twist. For immortal vs. immortal fights, there are two regular physical hits. The third is allowed to be either physical or supernatural based. This means that if the Lord of Hades was fighting another immortal, he could choose to try to physically strike his opponent three times OR he could try to physically strike his opponent twice and then try to use his ability to control the elements to harm his opponent such as creating a fire storm. In these battles, wings and antlers or horns remain. These are the only battles where the immortals remain unchanged! Afterlife battles are judged the same as non-afterlife battles so remember, high quality and comprehensible posts are more important than excessively lengthy ones! Especially with the afterlife when it can get kind of confusing what a supernatural being is doing!
BLESSINGS UPON BATTLES AND BIRTHS
The afterlife rulers can also offer their blessing or favor upon battles and births! On the battle and breeding forms, there will be a line that says "Afterlife:" and you can choose either Zion or Hades or N/A depending on if you want any of the afterlife's favor upon the battle or birth. For battles, it is not guaranteed that the afterlife will be able to help your character though. Ultimately, it is up to their discretion if they do or not. So for an example, if someone marks the Afterlife line in their battle form with Zion, then when that battle is being judged, the tally person will PM one of the two rulers of Zion and that person will be able to offer .5 to 1.5 extra points on top of the total points for whoever marked the Afterlife line with Zion. That may not sound like much but with the battle judging system we have, people usually win or lose by .5 or 1 whole point. An afterlife realm can only bless three battles a month in total and only one per member a month! So if you have three battles in November, you may mark all three but Zion can only choose one to help you and that will leave them with two other individuals to help, if they choose to do so!
The afterlife rulers are also able to offer their blessing upon births. There is also an Afterlife line in the breeding form and if it is marked as Zion or Hades, that adds in the potential for interesting results! However, it is not guaranteed! Let's say someone marks the Afterlife line for Zion; what happens then? Someone that plays a Zion ruler may choose to heal a birth defect that is given in the foal stats or if the mare goes through trouble in birth, they can choose to grant her smooth sailing in the birthing process. If Hades is marked, there may be a birth defect presented after the foal stats are given by a staff member. This portion is kind of like a foal stats override of sorts. It cannot be asked for and you can't ask someone to change it once given unless you purchase a miracle or appeal to the afterlife at a later time in IC to get rid of the birth defect, life-long illness, mental illness, etc.
Another portion of this is that Hades or Zion may lay claim to the foal's soul at birth if they wish as well.
LAND TAXES
The last major involvement that the afterlife can do is tax lands for souls or pledges. Zion or Hades can tax lands of their choosing for souls of newborns or the pledging of followers from older members. Taxes should be completed at the end of the time period established by the afterlife realm involved and if the requirement is not met in IC, then the land is at the mercy of Zion or Hades. A tax can only last for a span of three months unless otherwise agreed upon by rpers and approved by a staff member. After a tax is lifted, the land has a three month break from being taxed again. All lands being taxed will be noted in the respective afterlife boards with the date of the beginning and commencement of the tax period.
