Personality: Mariah is laid back and seemingly uninterested in life. She is quiet and prefers to be alone, save for the presence of her brother, Jinx. She is more than happy to work alone or with one or two individuals instead of in a group. She has never been able to form a lot of friendships easily or be able to keep them. She has serious issues with commitment and becomes internally distresses when faced with having to make a choice like that. Her self esteem is poor but you'd never know because she forces a confident image out upon others about herself. Emotionally, she is broken. Mentally, she is unsure. She goes back and forth between having emotionless days which she considers "good" compared to her days where she is depressed and morbid thoughts of suicide and self harm plague her mind. Most days, though, are consistently not so good for her mental state. She talks to herself as well as "puppets made out of friends", as she calls them. Imaginary friends, really. She hears their voices and has no problem answering them in front of anyone or just by herself. Mariah isn't particularly flirty or outgoing with males, seeing them as something she can't have so she doesn't try. She's convinced that she's ugly, fat, and unwanted despite what she's told. this keeps from trying to find a stallion as her mate because she believes there isn't one for her to stay with forever. Sexual situations are okay to a certain extent but if they get too close to actually doing anything, she freaks out and runs from it. Over all, she is a depressed little mare who needs stable individuals to get close to her and show her that life is okay and that she is wanted.
History: Mariah is the twin to her brother, Jinx. They were born to a regular, ordinary equines without anything special going for them. Despite her brother being the feistier of the two, she never picked up his fire and became the relaxed and laid back of the two. She grew up with little problems except for being picked on. It didn't matter what it was about, she was always being made fun of and picked on by someone. Negative comments wrecked her to the core and warped everything she thought she knew. After awhile, she was convinced that her parents were only telling her they loved her because that was their job. That her brother didn't really mean the nice things he said about her --- he just felt sorry for her. Granted, none of that is true but she was convinced it was so. After being mentally yanked back and forth between what was true and what wasn't, it really began to mess with her head and she eventually made up her own "friends". Kind of like imaginary friends. At first, she would only talk to them when no one was around but after about a year, she didn't care if anyone was near by or not. If she wanted to talk to her "friends" that were the nicest and the sweetest to her, she would. Eventually, others began to label her as 'crazy', 'psychotic', and among other names, which certainly didn't help her out. After awhile, she began to withdraw from everything and close up. She wouldn't talk to anyone or anything. If she could keep from it, she wasn't seen either. This began to stress out her brother and her family to the point that everyone just wanted to leave. Another year of her fading in and out of everything forced even more stress and her sire left the herd which destroyed her mother's heart. This led her to kill herself and Mariah just couldn't live with that and still stay in the herd. So she and Jinx left.
