General ~ Arganon tries to be reasonable, and just, and good...but it simply comes down to the fact that he has his selfish moments and a jealous streak a mile wide. Due to the fact that he has spent most of his life alone, he tends to be a bit mistrustful of those he meets at first but he tries to be welcoming enough without jumping to conclusions about what their character may be. That being said, he isn't stupid. If you look like you're evil as hell, he's gonna treat you like you're evil as hell. His good faith can only carry so far, after all, and he feels the weight of responsibilities to come already settling heavy on his shoulders. As such, he might seem a bit reserved with some horses upon their first meeting, or he might be charming and open. He tries to mold his character to whatever he thinks would best assist the situation, and encourage an amicable setting.
When it comes to what is his, Arganon can be extremely territorial and possessive. Especially if he feels that the things or horses that he cares about are threatened in some manner. He has no patience for those that would seek to harm the things that matter to him, or shatter the already brittle peace he has managed to find at last in this world. Those who challenge his territory, or his herd are met with nothing but malice and cruel intent. He reserves them no mercy, nor affords them any peace until they have chosen to withdraw their affront to his authority and honor, or have met their fate in battle.
There is a tender side to him, though, a fragile place that lingers in the depths of his deepest character. Arganon hates this side of himself; hates the vulnerability that comes with it and the hurts and the memories that haunt and ghost about in the back of his mind. He tries to hide it all costs, thinking it to be the weakest part of himself and as such his largest failure of all. A failure he cannot afford for others to take knowledge of lest they try to use it in manipulation against him. On the other end of this spectrum, is a more acceptable form of weakness in his opinion. A deep and lasting patience for foals has always been in his nature, as well as the instinctual trait of kind protection to be offered to the mares of his herd. He cares for those who offer him allegiance, and will return their loyalty with protection, affection, and patience.
History: Fairadelle was a lovely creature, fleet footed even through her more sturdy frame. Her golden coat was enough to gain the attention of more than one colt in her father's herd, and a certain stallion that didn't come from the familiar territory of her sire. Shadowfax seemed a noble sort when he first began to court the young Fairadelle in secret, their affair hidden from the otherwise watchful gaze of her sire. While he wasn't necessarily tender, or affectionate, or really 'kind' in any particularly noteable manner, but he seemed fair enough and from what he said he certainly had the means to provide a comfortable life for the filly. So when Shadowfax came to offer that the lovely young filly come and live with him as his queen, well she could hardly say no. However, her father did not see it in such a way.
Fairadelle's father, while being fair and just, was also wise in his years and could see the darkness within the stallion. He refused his daughter to follow him, telling her that nothing would come from the pairing. Fairadelle was young, though, and as such she was reckless. Late in the night, she allowed Shadowfax to steal her away. That would be the last time she would ever see her dear father again.
As time passed around Fairadelle and her new king, the promises he fooled her with proved to be more than just a sham. The midnight black stallion had no land of his own in truth, and no herd to protect either. In fact, the palomino filly was his first conquest, and he claimed his rights with her brutally. She quickly learned better than to resist him, however, as he favored cruel and harsh punishments as his form of behavioral reinforcement. To 'misbehave' toward him was tempting painful abuse, and Fairadelle's gentler character was easily cowed into submission by the brawny stallion.
It wasn't long before the filly came up pregnant with their first foal. In the time of her pregnancy, Shadowfax was absent a lot. He left her in a small glade which was sheltered enough, though if it rained Fairadelle found herself almost shivering from the elements. Thankfully it wasn't long before the dark stallion came and fetched her to a new land - his land. Shadowfax had been busy in all the time that he was away from his queen, for this was a territory he had claimed for himself, populated with more than just a few stolen mares. He had even recruited a few stallions to act as guards and warriors to protect his little treasure of a herd. Not even a week later, Fairadelle gave birth to their first son, Averfax.
As the time passed, Fairadelle was gratefull that Shadowfax seemed uninterested in his firstborn. He occupied his time with raiding other lands, stealing mares and recruiting warriors. In the relative peace he left her with, the mare had time to raise her son in the manner that she chose, and she chose to try and shield him from his father's darkness.
A year passed and again, Fairadelle was on the verge of foaling. This time, her son more resembled her in his coloring, carrying a brilliant golden coat with only a chocolate hue to taint him with his father's mark. Arganon was everything his father was not, however, and as he was raised alongside his brother, he saw his father's wrath more often than not due to his outgoing nature and honorable qualities. The two brothers were close in their youth, both silently resenting their father's rule and cherishing their mother's influence above all other things. However, such goodness does not last, and it is difficult for light to persist in the blackest of nights. As such, it was not long before Averfax began to fall prey to his father's smooth words and empty promises. In time, his heart started to darken, and the bond between himself and his brother weakened as if in sickness.
Finally, Averfax found his maturity, and reached his peak. Meanwhile, their father was nearing the elderly range, and his strength was not as it had been in his youth. While he was still a formidable opponent, Shadowfax knew it was only a matter of time before one of his sons sought to challenge him and would win. So he did the only reasonable thing - chose a son as his heir. Averfax to be exact. The dark stallion began the process of discrete manipulation, treating his elder son with high honors and even higher praise. With every moment spent in the company of their father, Averfax drew farther and farther away from Arganon, until they were almost strangers hanging onto the same family tree.
Arganon knew this favor was no sort of fatherly love, though. He was smart enough to suspect the dark stallion of having ulterior motives. The young colt knew his father was only showing Averfax favor in order to secure him as an asset rather than risk him becoming a rival. Shadowfax was manipulating his eldest son's pride in order to save his own place as king of his territory. Fairadelle too saw through that cruel farce, however, Averfax would not listen to their council and maybe even consulted his sire on the matter as soon over the favoritism began, he showed quite the opposite treatment toward his second son. If Shadowfax had been cold and distant toward Arganon before, then he was outright cruel and violent now. Ever protective of her dear sons, Fairadelle tried desperately to shield Arganon from his father's wrath, but her body could only take so much abuse before it began to fail.
Through it all, Arganon never stopped loving his brother. He couldn't forget the closeness of their youth - even though Averfax had seemed to - and at every cruel outburst from their sire, he always hoped Averfax might say something in the defense of his sibling and dam. Alas, the heir to that dark territory seemed to favor his own position, and sought to appease his father's avarice in his own favor rather than stick his neck out for Arganon or Fairadelle. It broke their hearts to see Averfax used and manipulated to such a point, but they could do and say nothing that would convince the colt of his father's true face.
Finally, tragedy struck in its truest form. Fairadelle could no longer handle the physical strain that Shadowfax's abuse placed on her and she fell severely ill. The best healers in the herd could not stop the sickness from spreading within her. It was as if the beautiful mare simply diminished and withered away, until finally she was no more. One night, her eyes closed and her flanks stilled with her breathing as her soul faded into the Afterlife. Arganon mourned his mother intensely, his heart broken at the loss, but there was more still to come. Not even a season more passed before Shadowfax's avarice became unbearable. Arganon was hardly allowed to interact with the rest of the herd let alone his own brother. In the end, the dark stallion drove his younger son away in a cruelly bitter display of violent heartlessness. Arganon hesitated on the edge of no return, wondering if his brother might at last come to his defense. Surely there was some small amount of affection between them that would garner some sort of support in the chocolate palomino's aid? But Averfax turned his back on his younger brother. There would be no assistance to be found in him. That betrayal hurt almost as worse as the loss of his dear mother, but the scar it left was more jagged and would be harder to move past.
Since his fourth year, Arganon has been wandering through free territories, searching for a place to allow himself the peace and time to heal from the loss and betrayal of his past. He has entertained the thought of building a herd of his own, but it has never crossed his mind so much as it has of late. The urge to have a place of his own is unbearable, and there is a certainty about him which pronounces his readiness to lead. Today, the territories he crosses are not simply passed by without a second thought. They are examined and scrutinized, his analytical gaze searching for the perfect place to build his home. And always he is waiting, and watching, for the appearance of the dark stallions he left behind...

Personality: Likes:
- Females ~ Perhaps not a stretch for a stallion, but there it is. Arganon loves the ladies, and his ambitious nature means he is extremely persistent in getting them on his territory.
- Autumn ~ Not too cold, not too hot, perfect weather for running about and stretching his muscles.
- Swimming ~ A bit strange maybe, but Arganon enjoys the water. He likes the weightless feeling it provides, and the cooling smoothness of a current massaging over his muscles.
Dislikes:
- Being challenged ~ Having to defend his own territory (once he claims some anyway) is a hassle and horses end up getting hurt. It becomes even more complicated when that challenge is actually over another horse. Arganon is extremely territorial over his turf and his herd, to threaten them in any manner is the quickest way to tempt his wrath.
- Liars ~ Honesty is extremely important to this guy, he doesn't have time to go sifting through the things told to him for truth and deception. He considers it a huge waste of time to be lied to, and it quickly garners his lack of respect for the horse in question.
- Traitors ~ Betrayal has always been a sore issue for Arganon, ever since he was a foal. After being abandoned by his own brother, those who turn their backs on him are quickly resented and rarely forgotten or forgiven for that matter.
- Arrogance ~ Showboating and arrogance have never carried any appeal for the palomino stallion. It's extremely obnoxious in his opinion, and quickly leads to him directing a fair amount of avarice and cruelty toward the suspect.
- Failure ~ Or falling short of his own standards even - to think of himself as lacking in anyway is extremely hurtful to the male's pride and honor and he hates feeling less than adequate. Especially in the presence of other horses.
