The following points should be noted before you proceed to creating your character:
1. Breed: You are allowed to have any breed or as many combinations of breeds as you'd like. Providing, of course, that the breed is not mythological (ie. No pegasus, unicorn, etc) or extremely rare. We mean rare as in there is less than 1,000 of these in the world.
2. Height: The height of your character MUST coincide with the breed. That means we don't allow 17hh Shetland Ponies. Look these things up before you make a character however, we do allow some leeway, but nothing drastic. Height is in a series of 'Hands High' and proceeds up from .1 - .2 - .3. If you need help with this, please contact a staff member and we can provide you with links and where to look to figure this out.
3. Coat Colour: No, you can't make a purple horse. Sorry. The colour of coat must be an actual horse colour (like a bay, chestnut, black, gray). We do not allow albinos on the site, or horses of a particular breed in an unconventional or non-accepted colour in their registry. For example, you can't make a pure Fell Pony and have it be liver chestnut, because as a pure breed they will be black. You can find this sort of information on the breed's registry website and numerous places online.
3. Eye Colour: You can have a bit more fun with this. Instead of locking you down with blue or brown, you can get creative with eye colour. Don't go overboard, like having a pink with blue striped eye, but purple and funkier colours are allowed.
4. Hoof Colour: Hoof colour is pretty straight-forward. No green or gold hooves, sorry. Slate, gray, or black.
5. Gender: You will be able to pick either a mare or filly (female) or stallion or colt (male).
6. Markings: You are allowed to pick what markings you'd like on your character. Blazes, socks, stockings, etc are allowed. Anything along the lines of bird catcher, bend-or spots, appaloosa based markings without the appaloosa breeding etc, will not be allowed unless bought from the store.
7. History: You will be required to post a 250 word minimum of your character's history. Tell us where s/he came from, what s/he did to get here, what other experiences s/he had. We will ask for a logical history.
8. Personality: This is the best part. Write a 250 word minimum of what your character is like. His/her likes and dislikes, what they admire, what they want, etc. Really take the time to let a character develop in your mind. The very best ones glue themselves to your soul and you just can't get rid of them!
9. Image: This is also fun. You will be required to find an image of your character's description (or you can make a lineart if you're good at those). The breed, colour, and markings must line up to the image within reason. If the picture is missing a sock, no big deal. We get the picture. You will not be allowed to just choose an image off of google, you will need a STOCK IMAGE from a site such as
www.deviantart.com with the permission to use that image on this site. Usually stock images are a free-for-all, just make sure you read the page just in case the owner of that stock image would like you to tell them where you'll be using their image. Tip: Find an image of a horse you really like and build the character off of that image.
